NLP Phobia Treatment For Fear Of Flying

by Alan Densky

Have you ever felt afraid of boarding an airplane? If so, you aren't alone. The fear of flying, called Aerophobia, is among the most common fears that people experience. This fear is often a debilitating, overwhelming feeling. It can even prevent you from getting around; traveling significant distances, or seeing loved ones. Beating such a fear used to take long years of counseling, but today there are hypnotic therapy and NLP techniques to eliminate phobias for easier, life-changing results.

Do you wonder exactly what defines a phobia? All phobias are considered a form of anxiety disorder, and many who have them can suffer from anxiety attacks and other unpleasant symptoms such as dizziness, physical illness, or a rapid heart beat. Several sufferers report feeling sick or losing their self-control, and arrange their lives around their phobia to try to avoid their fears.

For sufferers with a fear of flying, even the simple idea of getting on an airplane might cause symptoms of a panic attack. Other sufferers may feel only a little nervous while on the ground, but grow hysterical once the plane takes off.

Imagine a case in which a woman with Aerophobia is sitting on a plane before departure. She begins to feel nervous and her heart starts to pound. She knows flying is safe, but she is afraid nonetheless. When the airplane takes off, she can't help but cry uncontrollably, and continues to cry throughout the trip until she can finally get off the airplane. As extreme as this sounds, this sort of reaction is common to a surprisingly high amount of people.

All phobias are distinguished by intense, irrational fear. Those with Aerophobia are afraid of flying even when they know that flying is actually a very secure form of travel. They often feel humiliated when they respond with sobbing, shaking, or having an anxiety attack, but feel helpless to control their behavior. For sufferers, this fear of humiliation is as discouraging as the fear of flying itself.

In reality, phobia sufferers can't control their reactions because their fears are based at an unconscious level, which no amount of conscious effort or willpower can change. This is where hypnotic therapy works. Ericksonian hypnosis therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques operate in the unconscious mind to effectively eliminate phobias.

An excellent hypnosis therapy program for treating a phobia has several comprehensive steps. The first step uses hypnosis for stress-relief, quelling stress and tension. Once an individual is stress-free and relaxed, hypnosis therapy forms new thoughts in the unconscious mind to eliminate the fear. NLP itself eliminates fears by specifically targeting the single thought process that results in a phobia.

Unlike conventional hypnotherapy, which uses direct post-hypnotic suggestions, Ericksonian hypnotherapy uses indirect suggestions in discussion to persuade the unconscious mind to follow a new, more reasonable train of thought. It is more effective than traditional hypnosis because people usually ignore direct post-hypnotic hints, but find it difficult to reject indirect suggestions that are incorporated in fascinating stories and metaphors.

The specialized phrasing of post-hypnotic inductions in conventional hypnosis means that most traditional hypnotherapy programs will only work to treat a particular given phobia. A remarkable feature of the Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP program is that it isn't phobia-specific and will treat any phobia, in any individual. It is sure to work for most people because the program is made up of multiple unique hypnotherapy techniques arranged for maximum effectiveness.

The most effective phobia busting NLP technique that I have practiced is called the Visual - Kinesthetic Disassociation. The nickname for the V/K is the "one session phobia cure," and with good reason!

The combined Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP program is perfect for a logical person who wants to quickly beat an irrational fear once and for all. Users can go through the step-by-step program at their own personal pace, but are frequently surprised at the ease with which they finish the program and beat their phobia. The results people achieve with hypnotherapy often appear simply phenomenal.

Hypnosis therapy and NLP are amazing tools for many struggling with phobias. Ericksonian hypnosis therapy and NLP have helped countless people fight their fears. The techniques are perfect for helping people who are afraid of flying to experience flying and all of its advantages. For a long time, hypnosis has been able to benefit lives worldwide, and extinguishing fears is just one of the ways in which it changes lives.
